Wicked Good Week: June 11
Well, we successfully made it through another week! BP and Apple still managed to dominate the headlines. One with a problem and the other with a product. Either way, these giant companies have something that simply wont go away.
I am really starting to enjoy putting together these weekly wrap ups. If you find these weekly posts fun or beneficial, please give me a shout in the comments and subscribe to my feed. I really enjoy finding great pieces of the internet and sharing them. Its also a good way to help promote some great things going on – so if you have anything that could use some exposure, by all means hit me up. Without further delay, here is best I found from this week:

36 Photos of Summer in Boston
Memorial day has come and gone. This 3-day weekend is the official-unofficial start of summer in New England. The city of Boston is one of my favorite places to visit in the summertime. We make a point to get the kids out to the Boston Aquarium and Children Museum at least once on a nice warm day. There is so much to do and see on an extended sunny day. Take a look at our beautiful city scenery from spring to summer.

What Marketers Can Learn from Pandora Radio
I am a big fan of this Pandora radio. I recently upgraded to the full version because I listen to it all day long - on my work PC, on my Mac in the home office, and even on my Blackberry. Pandora does music right- they play only songs I like.
Pandora goes beyond just playing songs that I have told it please me ears, they suggest new artists and tunes that I may like according to the ones it knows I already enjoy. Pandora measures each song on an algorithm that pre-determines if I am likely to “like” it or not. They have made the process easy, a simple thumbs up or down will give it the personalized data it needs to continue the process.
Pandora does what every good marketer should do – know what each individual client needs or wants and deliver it easily and effectively. Better yet, give it to them before they have to ask.

Wicked Good Week: May 21
Wicked Good Week is back! WGW is a feature I launched back in 09 (don’t ask me why I stopped). The idea is to highlight anything I found worth sharing from the past week and wrap it up into one cute little blog post. Being a mix of Internet junkie and marketer I have a tendency to find cool stuff and a habit to share it.
There are no rules here. I will share anything and anyone I feel like. If you have something you found (or created) that made an impression on your week, please feel free to add it to the comments below. Going forward if you find something great next week, share it with me on twitter and I’ll include it in next week’s wrap-up.

5 Things I want for Fathers Day
With Fathers Day approaching I was asked if there was anything I wanted. Its not often that I ask for anything. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy toys and gadgets as much as the next guy, but I am truly happy for my health and the health of my wife and three kids.
We must all want something for father’s day, right? OK, after a little thought, I was able to come up with five small requests that I would happily accept for fathers day this year…
Idiots on the Field: A Lottery for Baseball Fans
There’s nothing more annoying than when an idiot runs on a field while you are enjoying a baseball game. The networks don’t show it , so its another commercial for television viewers. If you are lucky enough to see the game live, its funny for a minute. Then the guy (yes it’s always a guy) seems to easily evade the 30 overweight security guards trying to catch him. Every once and a while there will be a skinny fast guy that gets tacked by an ex-football player, but that’s rare. Most of the time its just watching the dummy give unless he happens to get tasered by a cop who’s packing some electricity. (As we saw this week in Philly)
I have a much better solution that’s a win for viewers, advertisers, charities, and a big win for one lucky fan.
Want a free Cell plan (with ads)?
Its an interesting argument: Would you take a cell plan that sent you ads if it the plan was free or deeply discounted?
I recently read this article in PC Magazine: Cheaper Cell Service — For the Price of Eyeballs
Just like traditional marketing practices in print media where newspapers and magazines can afford to sell copies inexpensively, the same manner is expected to happen in the telco industry space once it does digital marketing — the modern advertising technique via the Internet and mobile phone devices.
