Create and print your own posters
How great would it be to have your own pictures blown up and on display for everyone to see in your home, office, or classroom? With how greatly popular digital photography has become, so has the demand to produce great color prints, enlargements, and posters. Thanks to businesses like PostersXXL, Snapfish, PhotoWorks, Kodak and many more, it is now easy and affordable to send them your color pictures to have them reproduced as a glossy poster print and mailed to you within days.
Print quality. Before you upload your images to a printer, be sure that they are a high enough resolution to be enlarged. At 100% size (ex. 24×36 inches) you will need at least 100 dpi (dots per inch). Ideally, printers like 300 dpi for all images. The larger you blow it up, the lower the resolution will be. Many poster printers will tell you if your image is too small and will often provide you with a screen shot of how it will look. I would not recommend blowing up a camera phone image to the biggest poster size you can find.
Size. Again, you can only blow up your poster to be as big as the file size can handle. If you shot your digital image with 6 or more megapixels, you will probably be OK in the larger sizes. There are common poster sizes that will be offered by all printers. These are usually the sizes that you can find on frames. If you are planning on framing your new poster, I would suggest that you buy the frame first and get an accurate measurement and order your poster accordingly. See printers for available sizes.
Price. As you would imagine, the bigger the print, the bigger the bill. You should be able to produce a poster print from anywhere from $9.099 for a 15 x 20 to $50.00 for as large as a 36×48 inch poster. However, having a custom poster to show off your family vacation at the Grand Canyon is priceless!
Delivery. Be sure to check the delivery charge before you get too far. Because posters will be rolled up into a tube, they will be slightly more expensive to ship than simply an order of 4×6 prints.
