18 September 2009

applesThis week went by fast! Coolness is in the air here in New England. Summer is over. Took the little guys apple picking. Love the fall.

Here is a look at this weeks Wicked Good Week. If you want to go back to previous weeks, navigate yourself down to the categories and find “Wicked Good Week”. That’s where you will find my recommendations for great links, great twitter follows, and great deals. This week is brief, probably because the source of many of my good links comes from @bkmacdaddy who has been ill – get better my friend!

I’d like to encourage you to comment below and get interactive. Please give me your thoughts on anything included and feel free to include your own. Lets share the best from the week together.

Wicked Good Links

Great links from the week. If you have something great from this past week, share it with us below. Please try to keep it related to design, printing, marketing, photography, or anything else creative.

5 Things to do with a Really Big Hand is a funny take on a guy who built a huge mechanical hand. Last week I mentioned I was in a contest on BitRebels.com to become a new writer. Well, this is my potentially winning article. PLEASE check it out, ReTweet it and leave a comment about how its the best article you have ever read on a big metal appendage.

5 Tips for Optimizing your Adwords Campaigns is a great read for ways to well, optimize your Google Adwords campaign. Thanks Jason.

10 Awesome Design Magazines puts a bunch of the design sites I visit into one nice and neat little article. Thanks @Minervity

Backup and Store your Photos with Phanfare This one makes me feel really bad. At the same time I was reviewing this new service, someone (forgive me for forgetting who) tweeted they just crashed and lost all their pictures. Needless to say I wrote this quickly and backed mine up… If you are the guy, please comment below!

Twaitter OK, so give me your thoughts. To schedule tweets, to not to schedule tweets. I have heard great points from both sides on this one. Please comment yours. If you are pro-schedule check out this service. I “hear” its a good one.

Wicked Good People

Already following one of these people? Please comment below and tell us why you would recommend them. Let them know you care!

kaileenelise @kaileenelise is an explorer of all things extraordinary, a student of life, artist, writer, yogini, and finally a blogger! This week was a milestone for her as she launched her new blog. This was something she was really passionate about doing. She already has more comments on her first post than I have on my entire website! I bet you did not know she was on a billboard in Vegas? (might be a good post for the new blog…) Her goal is to make everyday an extraordinary adventure. Why not be part of her adventure? She also comes highly recommended by a previous week’s WGW follow @designchicklet

Lisa2 @LisaBarone… lets see, “outspoken” should do it. She may look all innocent in that picture, but be warned, this chick is witty, fast, and often humorous. I first came across Lisa after one of her followers RT’ed this blog post (thanks Lauren!). Dont let her location in NY fool you, this week I found out that Lisa is also a big (and apparently loud) Boston sports fan (i knew there was a different reason I liked her). In all the fun she seems to have, Lisa is Co-Founder and Brand officer at Outspoken Media. The company and the blog is definitely something to check out (often).

pearsonified @pearsonified has one of the more clever twitter names in my opinion. Chris Pearson is a bit of a joker at times. However, its really just to hide his intelligence. In addition to his witty, twits Chris has a product on his shelf that stands out amongst the rest. He created the Thesis theme. I wont get into how its probably the best theme you could choose for Wordpress, but this guy has gots skills yo. (No need to look for Thesis in my footer, I did not read about its greatness until after I spent a month building this theme). Chris is a friendly follow and chats often. Check out his blog and learn more about Thesis.

  1. [...] Perhaps the most shocking bit of encouragement I received was this twitter comment: “…how are you going to take over the world without a blog for us to check out?” This push may have been exactly what I needed to send me over the edge. Just a few weeks later I went live and was featured on Christian’s blog, Printed Proof. [...]
